Pink And Green Is Fit For A Queen!

Pink and green would have to be one of my favourit colour combinations, and when a friend asked me to make her a skirt of out of this fabric, I knew I had to have one too!!!

Its the most fabulous chatreuse with giant pink roses!  Love it!!

Of course I checked with MsKatt if she would mind if we had matching skirts, and thankfully she said she didn't mind one bit!

So, once my Fall for Cotton project was complete, I set about making her skirt, and my skirt... and a lovely blouse to go with it!  I don't have any construction photos, and the blouse is not quite finished yet, but I wanted to show you all anyway!

I used a self drafted circle skirt pattern for the skirt, with a 2 inch waistband to which I added my new favourite item - PIPING!!!

And I added pockets as well - I think more items of clothing should have pockets, don't you???

Polka Dot Pockets!!!!!

And those of you who are super observant will notice that the blouse looks distincly like the dress pattern I've made a hundred times recently... thats because it is!!!  I turned it into a blouse pattern!!!  And this one I've lined with pink polkadotted cotton.

Now, I would really like to finish this outfit to wear this weekend, so sorry that this isn't a more detailed post... I must dash and finish this blouse!!!

  1. sigh...i want to be you when i grow up (please dont mention the fact that i'm older than you and crush my dreams ;) ) how flippin cute could it possibly be that you matched the inside of the blousse to the pockets!!! Beccie, there's a retrofollies vintage car show in beziers on teh 13th and they are havinga most elegantly dressed woman contest. i wnat to participate but am too embarrassed and feel silly. i'm overweight and sometimes feel silly done up in victory rolls) - my husband calling me wolverine deosnt help! i immediately thought of you. so i was wanting to make gertie's wiggle dress in this red strtchy cotton i just picked up and i have awesome red shoes with pink bows. i would ideally like to add pink trim to sleeves neckline and a pink bow belt but already making a dress in one week is a pretty big step for me. but the thing is that's not exactly elegant though it is retro. i dont know. i would love your input on what you think about this.

    3. Well, you didn't ask me, Rebecca, but I think you should GO FOR IT! You sound so cute (probably 'cause I'm a big girl too) and I believe you will have a great time and feel lovely if you make your outfit.

I'm excited for you. Go for it!

  2. Love the print and piping detail. I always try to add at least one pocket to any skirt or dress I make. It makes it easier to carry lipstick and other lady things discreetly.

  7. LOVE that fabric! And I love what you made out of it. Extra-love the piping, it sets the whole skirt off nicely. I'm a bit of a fan of pink and green too. There's just something about it...
