I have a few things for customers that I need to get done:
- The giveaway dress for Ina
- A circle skirt for a customer
- Two skirts for a girlfriend
- Not to mention three cardigans!
The perennial favourite that has been on my list for a while, but hasn't made it to the top - the Cherries 'n' Gingham dress. The body of the dress will be made up with the seafoam green fabric with cherries and gingham bows, and the shoulders and sleeves will be the red gingham. And I already have red vintage buttons.
Next choice, Pink Polkadots. Not that long ago a lovely friend gave me a gorgeous pink and cane hand bag, and its so special that I knew I had to make a sweet dress to go with it! I'm going to make the version on the right (the solid blue one) and the piping and pocket details will be in the darker pink, and I'll find some dark pink buttons (another trip to the button shop - hooray!)
And the third choice (cause I don't want to make it too hard for you) - the Pink Gloves and Pearls dress. This fabric is just adorable! Mrs Doris Button was using it for her Fall for Cotton sew along entry and as soon as I saw her fabric choice I knew I had to have some, and I bought the last of the stock at fabric.com. The collar and cuff detail shown on the pattern in white, I will do in pink.
I love all of these so much and I just can't pick what to do first!! So help me by commenting below with your choice:
A - Cherries 'n' Gingham
B - Pink Polkadots
C - Pink Gloves and Pearls
Help!

A. Cherries and Gingham!
ReplyDeleteThe cherry fabric is ridiculously fun. Selfishly speaking, I'd like to see your mad sewing skills turned loose on that fabric.
ReplyDeleteYou can be as selfish as you want! It is adorably cute!!!
DeleteA. for me too!!
ReplyDeletePink gloves and pearls! I have that pattern and I'd love to see it made up.
ReplyDeleteThis may end up as being 'what order do I sew these three things in' cause I do want to do all of them... :) Thanks for your help ladies!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a sucker for anything with cherries or gingham, but oh that gloves and pearls print is amazing. I'm thinking the cherries are a little more springy/summery though. I'm going with the cherries and gingham!
ReplyDeleteI like your reasoning Sarah!
DeleteC! Utterly fab fabric that needs making up as soon as possible.
ReplyDeleteAaaah boy, "A" or "C"; umm, k, let me go back up and look. Hum Jeopardy tune for a sec . . . Okaaaay, drumroll . . . .. "C".
ReplyDeleteThis was hard but pink and black are SO striking. I could not resist. "A" is the bomb dot com too though so make that second on your list.
Now, get busy girl, looks like you've got a gabunch of stuff on your list for others to do so you can get busy on THIS dress.
So, Beccie, do you work secularly away from the home? If so, how do you have the time for all this? Sew glad that you do.

Yes I have a real job - 5 days a week in an office. I also have a husband and a step-son. I'm not quite sure how I have time for all this to be honest! But I do spend my weekends sewing, so I have an average of about 1.5 days a week to get everything done :)
DeleteAnd with that in mind I have no idea when I'll actually get to make any of these dresses - especially since I got two more custom dress orders yesterday...
DeleteAll of your choices are beautiful, but make it very hard to choose one. Would have to pick A! (Have a soft spot for Gingham), and it'll be a very fun dress.
ReplyDeleteJ. x
I have a soft spot for gingham too :)
DeleteC, A then B ! Those gloves ! Sooo not seen ! Lovely pattern too, that decolleté is fabulous; although I might have stuck with white or even black for the contrast...I'm a "gotta match everything" kinda girl but it's becoming standard I find in all the repro you see; However that's only my personal opinion and whatever you do is going to look gorgeous. (Left B for last because of the buttons hahaha !) And you want (and likely will) do them all at the same time ! You're crackers but we love it !
ReplyDeletehahahahahaha I'm glad you love that I'm a wee bit mad :)
DeleteWhite would look nice too because it would pick up the white of the pearls on the print, and white near your face is always so refreshing! You may be right!! I think when I make this I will have to see what looks better :)
A - cherries and gingham! Definitely the winner in my eyes.
ReplyDeleteoh was going to vote for a as i loved that dress option first time around but the cut of c is to die for and will look beautiful on you. so "c"
ReplyDeletehope you are feeling 100% again.
Beccie, I would love to see what you are going to make of the gloves fabric, even though it would slightly frustrate me, as I couldn't finish my sew-along dress - but it would be nice to see how your project will look, especially as you will make the contrasting parts in pink - mine would have been white, as it will look lovely with a nice pearl necklace. (I will finish my gloves dress after Christmas, I'm already preparing the Christmas fairs, lots of children's stuff to sew...)
ReplyDeleteBut I am so in love with that cherry fabric, since you posted it previously. For you it would be perfect, as it's summer, and this definitely calls for cherries - so for me it's A, cherries and gingham! (I planned to make a gingham cherry dress too, it was a black and white gingham with cherries printed on it, but somber went bye and the dress will have to wait for next summer.)
