Last Friday I was able to wear my newly finished black coat!
(You will have to excuse the photos - I normally don't like to use flash, but due to the fact it was night time, and the fabric is so black it shows no detail in normal lighting, it was my only option.)
Lovely toasty warm pockets for my hands!!!!!
The dotty swirls on the lining match the pindots on my dress!!!
After the photos were taken by my long-suffering husband, off we went to the Goldfish!
We seriously do go there every week, and all the staff know us now. And I always have the same drink...
This is a Sailor Jerry Mojito. When we first started visiting regularly late last year, I commented to the barman Dan that I really loved Sailor Jerry rum and he suggested I have a mojito using it instead of white rum. I was sceptical, but trusted his judgement. And can I tell you, this drink is fabulous, and I've not looked back! Now he knows exactly what I want as soon as I walk in the door!!
The Goldfish also has ahhhhmazing pizzas! The other food on the menu is also fabulous, but Friday night is all about cocktails and pizzas!!!
So thats my Friday night tradition (and my lovely new coat). Do you have a weekly tradition or treat???

Omg I need this coat!!! Do you do made to order?!? You look divine!! I've always wanted to go to Goldfish (I'm in Newcastle) one weekend I definitely will! :)
ReplyDeleteWell Emma-Jean if you end up there on a Friday night you'll more than likely run into me :)
DeleteI have started to make things to order, but I'm not sure it will stretch as far as coats. Coats are a large project that take a lot of time, and the materials used aren't cheap. I've estimated that if I was to sell this coat it would cost $800 and thats only charging myself out at $10/hr.
Having said that though, if you have $800 I'd be very happy to make you a coat :)
Goodness Gracious!!! I can only imagine how much time you have put into it, but unfortunately my budget doesnt stretch that far! Amazing job though!
DeleteTo give you an idea, materials alone were $290. And hey, the only reason I can have a coat like this is that I can make one - I couldn't afford to buy one at that price either! Maybe I should teach you to make your own :)
DeleteWow it's so beatiful, I love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks Maria :)
DeleteWow! Your coat is so beautiful! I love the capelet that it has and those big buttons make such a wonderful statement to the whole garment. It looks so flattering on you and it seems nicely fitted with those lovely princess seams it has. The lining looks very nice too. The swirls in the fabric are very nice. What kind of lining fabric did you use for the coat?
ReplyDeleteOverall, it came out so very lovely. I would love to have a coat like that so much!

The lining fabric was an acetate that I purchased a while ago from Gorgeous Fabrics :)
DeleteSpectacular! It looks so warm!
ReplyDeleteHeheh I just realised we're going to look quite the sight when you come down to Melbourne - what with us both having bright red hair! And bright outfits too no doubt ;-)
Esz - its insanely warm, like walking around in a really attractive looking doona!
DeleteAnd I know - we will be most talked about I'm sure!
I've fallen in love all over again.
ReplyDeleteHopefully with the coat, Unknown person ;)
Deletewow! gorgeous! think i like this one even more than the lilac one. it fits you just perfectly and looks so sleek and elegant. perfect with your dress too.
ReplyDeletei sooo wish i could talk by stick in the mud, cheapo husband into having a weekly outing. heck i'd take a monthly outing ;P. when i was little my step mom and dad had us every other weekend and we always went to the spaghetti factory-sooooo good and all 5 (yes 5!) of us kids loved it. we got shirly temples (coke with cherry syrup and a cherry in it) while waiting (like an hour wait every time! in swanky velvet covered vintage furniture) and the garlic buttered bread taht came with the meal was so good! and so was the spimoni icecream. i have the best memories of that time. i so wish i could give the same kinds of memories to my kids but alas. we'e building others tough, right?
What lovely memories of your childhood! And I'm sure your making lovely memories for your kids too - just in a different way!
DeleteI forget some times that I'm fortunate in my circumstances, and not everyone can do the things that I do....
I love all three of your coats - you are so ambitious! Can you tell me where you got the red lip buttons on the coat you made last year?
ReplyDeleteHi Melissa! I bought them from the same place as I bought the buttons for the black and the lilac coats. I did a post about the shop here:

Thank you! I'll have to mail order, as I live in Portland, Oregon, USA!
